Hi Hans. Your first sentence is what worries me. You should never enter IMC unless rated, current and on an IF flight plan.
The issue of e.g. 5 hours IF training during PPL has also been discussed here on Avcom. The theory is that you can do a 180 in cloud if you inadvertently enter cloud. Opinions were divided IIRC. The point is you should not be even near the cloud in the first place.

The other issue relating to this is spatial disorientation - I almost always get it in IMC - it can be a killer if you are not properly trained.
The sky is not the limit....
