Approach Charts: FQMA, FQIN, FQVL?

Unread post by RudiGreyling » Mon Aug 14, 2017 11:58 am

Where do you guys get your IFR charts from if you only occasionally (once a year) venture out of country?

I am planning a holiday trip to Mozambique end of September/October and need some charts.

Not worthwhile to subscribe to jeppesen for once a year trip out of country trip, when all the south african charts are available online for free.

Thanks in advance.

Copy's attached.

My not be valid when you fly anymore but should give you a general idea and supplied for information purposes only.

Mostly RNAV though except for Maputo so I don't know if it will help you much.

FQMA ILS & VOR "unavailable". Get your notams from a couple of sources- it is currently notamed on file2fly but disappears from time to time, and don't be fooled by an expired notam either... they continually republish it upon expirey but it seems their distribution is poor. Will be ages before these are working again.

Bliksem, now am I glad I did a RNAV course last week, I need to do the practical next week then I am equipped. This trend of ground stations going unavailable is only going to get worse and worse. No wonder more and more people are moving towards RNAV approaches.
