Bump in the battery bay door was to take the Gates sealed lead acid battery which gave cooler starts, quicker recharge and longer time between service without the hassle of shipping the NiCad as dangerous goods form the outer stations for maintenance.

No sweat. I was involved with the mod through Lansav and the Airwing. Square bump in the picture.

No sweat Mr Bear.
The battery mod changed the way they operated away from base.

We did the Squirrel as well. Gave it a decent battery with an Elcon connector. The Frog battery has wingnuts for the terminals.

The SAPS lost ZS-RAW due to a wire strike back in 4July 2008. Luckily no casualties..
