The police 105’s have been parked and are no longer operated. I don’t know the reason.
And they where all the upgraded engine versions.

I’ve only flown the standard c20 powered ones, they are fine on 2 engines and perform well but on one engine, unless light and on the coast, you only extend your glide down to terrafirma.

I haven’t flown one in a while but I would put the operating cost at around R15k per hour. Fuel usage is a around 200l/ph.

At Newlands Fire base today.
three messerschmitt-bolkow-blohm bo 105 helicopters have been donated to the department of environmental affairs for fire-fighting duties; planning and mapping work; anti-poaching work; surveillance; search and rescue; monitoring and evaluation; compliance and enforcement; advocacy and extension services; and the taking of teams to inaccessible areas for
the control of invasive species

Being a pilot for Flightshare, at Grand Central (The contract holder for the ER24 HEMS contract), I can confidently say that the BO105 is the most exciting aircraft that I have flown. I have recently passed 200hr on type. We operate the only two BO105 LS models in the country, ZS-ONC and ZS-HGI. This aircraft truly is an exceptional machine to use for HEMS. Tons of power and fits in to almost any tight space you give us. I unfortunately have no experience on the BO105 CB(S) series. Hopefully one day! :D :D
