ZB is correct.
680 is optimum for the 3300 especially. I ran at 720 on egt. Polished the needle to obtain 680 and viola, consumption down from average 22 l/h to 18 l/h.
My old heads ran at 180 in the cruise. My new heads after the LCH episode ran at highest 140, but that was with the new baffles by Len as well.

Re: Hot running engine
Just a note to fellow Jabi owners - when I brought FDG down to Richmond (Natal) I was faced with the high EGT issue the moment I descended below 5000 ft. I changed the Needle Jet from the standard 2.85 to a 2.90 and viola problem solved. I can now cruise at the lower alts without touching the Carb heat and the CHT's were also affected positively. To change the needle jet is a quick and painless job. The idle RPM has dropped to around 700 rpm but that can be sorted. Static power check and flight at 6500 ft all ok with consumption sometimes even lower than before.
