ORF- Namibia Jet Rally 25-28 October 2018 Updated!!

Unread post by F14 » Tue Jun 05, 2018 3:29 pm

Okakango Radio Flyers will be hosting the annual Jet Rally from the 25th to the 28th of October!
We invite everyone to come and join us for a weekend of fun and excitement!
There is a 330mtr tarred runway for even the novices of pilots to have ample space to land and for the pro's there is always thunder ally (dry river bed adjacent to the runway) where you can test your flying skills if you have the balls! :D
There are toilets and showers on the camping site and alternative accommodation is 1km away for those not wishing to camp.
As far as we know this is the only airfield where you can fly below ground level!
This is the perfect opportunity to get away from the rat race and enjoy Namibian hospitality...specifically biltong and Jaegermeister!!
For more info you can contact me at 264-811241555
Hope to see some of you guy's/girls
Will post more updates in the coming weeks.
Horst

All kinds of plane and helicopters allowed, and on the subject of helicopters attached a photo of one of the local helicopters in the country.
Just for interest sake the price tag to build this machine was 420k!! Tail rotor was handcrafted in Germany at a cost of 80k
has got a working hoist, doors open remotely and all kinds of scale goodies.
Powerplant is a jetcat SP5 body is made by Helieman.

What p i s s e s me off is that people don't realize what these things cost to get and build in SA/Nam etc. I have spent close to R90K on my UH1 and that does not include any scratch built items or my time... My Wessex is standing at R45K and has not even flown yet. If I dare advertise it for anything more than R25K there is a collective rolling of eyes and murmurs of disbelief in the community.
That is why this hobby (scale RC helis) will never be popular until someone can come up with mass produced EPO plug'n'fly models...

Anyway... fantastic model that! =D> =D> =D>

Would love to be there. Unfortunately I owe, I owe so it's off to work I go... :(
Anyone who hasn't been to Horst's place should make an effort. I haven't seen his new airfield but the old one was a beauty to behold and a pleasure to fly on.

Can you mark your new runway on Google maps, Horst? Would love to see where it is.

Hi Richard,
Pity you can't come. The airfield does not show on Google yet, but here are the co-ordinates.
S 22*4.413
E 16* 52.343
Make some time and come up again!

I would love to. Unfortunately at a critical stage of our contract at Medupi Power Station... :( I see you have moved. Now on the Gross Barman Road. I have attached a Google map picture showing approximate location. Interesting to see some planes in the air there, or maybe one plane with shadow on the ground.
