It will be white with black checkerboard on the nose and tail. D day stripes on the wings.
We are all going down the same route for the team in 2014.

Superb!

How many in the team? And all RV8's?

Would be very keen to exchange notes. We using the SAAF training guide wrt hand signals and SOP's etc, and the Team Aerodynamix station keeping for our formo training. Have regular 4 ship training weekly and will soon have an additional 3 experienced formo gents join the team.

If you ever down South, hook up!

Hi Ryan,
There should be 5 in the team as long as we get the last aircraft in time.
All RV8s.

The guys are all ex Team Viper (Hunters) or Team Osprey (Yak 52) pilots.
All have aerobatic formation display ratings down to 100 feet, so we should get something quite nice after about 3 months of training.

We use RAF sop's which are as near as exactly the same as SAAF sops.
As you work on your routine, you'll find you won't need the hand signals, just verbal calls, as everybody knows what's happening next.

Do you have smoke? It really makes a huge difference impact wise.
Are you going to be doing aeros?
Be careful with adding numbers as you build it. Things can get messy with larger formations. It can also look untidy unless everybody is spot on.

Remember, start with bite size chunks as you build up your team and routine.

And one last bit of advice we always use.
99% of the time you are not on your references.
ALWAYS be moving towards them,
Gerald Williams

Ger,

Sounds awesome! You're all way ahead of us.

Thanks for the great advice. At this stage when we have 4 or 5 we limit the maneuvers to gentle wingovers. In pairs we certainly push our envelope and practice very steep wingovers, tight echelon turns and have begun 2 ship loops. The learning curve is steep and RADIUS is definitely a 4 letter word!

In terms of your references, great analogy as the common error amongst the team is to slide out or slide back!

Look forward to seeing some of your pics!

Gerald,

I would really like to see what she looks like in your colour scheme. She should display beautifully against the background of a clear sky!

Could you please mail me some pics?

Hope that the first flight is imminent.

I would also like to discuss jets with you again!

Thanks in anticipation.

Kind regards.

D.
