Hi Guys - if you own a cheetah and have not yet got the SB on the elevator joiner I suggest you contact Rainbow and find out.

The elevator joiner on a cheetah cracked. It was on the left elevator. It seems it was an aircraft that was flown 'spiritedly' and Vladimir has made an improvement on the bracket to stop it from possibly cracking again. He basically welds another ring around the Tab that holds the tube on the left hand elevator. It gives the bracket more 'meat' where it attaches. It takes basically just a couple of minutes to do. We took the 3 cheetahs at Petit to Springs this morning and did all three in about an hour or so.

My Cheetah has over 1035 hours on it with no visible issues. Was sent to Rainbow and they were satisfied - however, elongation was found on the holes and have requested me to fly the plane up to Springs for a "full-body massage"

I think it is a good idea and am planning to do just that...

That's a good few hours for a Cheetah, unless it is being used in a busy flight school. What are the highest hour Cheetahs that anyone knows of?

Have these hours been largely trouble-free, John?

Hi Rod... yes, mostly trouble free and was used in a flying school. Had a hard landing in the earlier days and the front wheel collapsed and prop strike. The design or strength of the assembly was improved on thereafter. That's why I hold off putting the nose down as long as possible and on take off take the pressure off the nose wheel as soon as possible... Had a landing strut/shock replaced as well.

What has been a pain is the brakes. We have however replaced the cables with a locally manufactured set and must say there seems to be a serious improvement. She would have had more hours on (say in the region of 1335 if it had not been for being grounded by legal process!)

Structurally she cannot be faulted...
