Whispering to Sodwana Bay

Unread post by flymonkey » Fri Apr 27, 2012 8:09 pm

I have just returned home after a 7 day trip to Sodwana Bay
We went with 7 micro light trikes and 4 fixed wing aircraft
We flew PE - Mazeppa Bay then after much merriment we flew on to Margate for a fuel stop and a coffee and then to Emoyeni which is an aviators paradise.
more merriment there after some hairy flying over some big mountain space
Met some passionate aviators there and lots or ra ra bar talk.m
Then on to Richards Bay for fuel and then set sail for Sodwana Bay
Interesting flying over open cast mining on the beach St Lucia and then landing at Sodwana Microlight services strip
Landed there with a stiff crosswind on a field that was not much wider than my wings and a whole 300m long
Spent 3 days there and then returned coastwise after not sleeping the nitembeforei left for fear of,planting my Whisper in the bush at the threshold
Had to get the locals to burn the bush back at the sides of the runway so I could get max use out of the runway
All in all it shows how versatile the Whisper is but I fear my long winged brothers would have been in trouble.
Viva the Express
All in all stayed in classic lodges and were treated like kings
Man life is tough
Watch this space,for some pics
