ZU-BJG Rebuild

Unread post by RyanB » Mon May 23, 2016 11:56 am

Hi Guys

So I am the proud new owner of ZU-BJG, and have just started a basic revamp on her after just over 10 years of no flying.

Project should take about 6 months

Very exciting

Awesome =D> =D> Congratulations RyanB. Where is she going to be based ?
Speak to Cyril Manser about this A/c I think he flew her the last time before James Vinney sold her which was about 3 - 4 years ago.
I could be wrong though.

Thanks Guys

She last flew in 2006

Lots of work ahead but going strong! Now the big question is whether to leave the continental P90 in there or find an O200

Nice to chat the other day Ryan and congrats with the Piet!

The PE-90 will accept dual plug Jugs off the E185 or E225 and there are many of them around. Even the base of the O470 is the same.
Machine the rear case to accept another mag and this will be a nice mill.
Much more grunt than an O200, and you will need it up here on the Highveld. Many of them in experimental craft in the US.
Have fun.

Airframe all stripped out, wood looks in great condition! She sure was built well! Was going to try replace motor with an O200, but I reckon I am going to follow Petes advise and try get some new cylinders and get a second mag installed. Also looking at possibly putting an aftermarket fuel injection setup on her as the intake sits on top of the engine, so should be a simple conversion. Anyone have experience with Electronic Fuel injection?

Let the chroming and polishing begin

Easy enough fits all plus the ECU is dead simple to setup....Right now for Rotax and Jabiru but if we can pickup a impulse or install a sensor somewhere then it will work. Have a whole bunch of default MAPS for different engines as well.
