Doesn't make sense to me, but will just be me

ZAR is Strengthening against the USD but the USD is also strengthening!

My next guess: R13.93 against $ by 3 October.

There was a sharp rise today, but I think it will come down in next few days again to rise again later in month (Relative to charts and not value)
USD increase in value partly to do with this.

I am getting nervous as I still need to sell my house and then get the money out :(
As expected.
Touched R14.64 yesterday
Going up again and now R14.91

I expect rising above R 15.00 soon not to return below it after 21st of September again.

Of course I hope I am wrong.

(If it do go below R15.00 after end of the month, then I seriously doubt that it would go below R14.50 as its lowest point.)
How wrong I was

I also write it down every day but did not expect this, strengthening of around 40 cent in 1 week.

This entire post has nothing to do with the Rand's outlook in 2018, but more about the OPs rants of the demise of SA. Barro's who has changed username and miraculously resurfaced after emigrating (he claimed), has not only changed the title of this thread on many occasions and also edited his opening post , dated in 2015, no less than 6 times - the ultimate Troll. The same came to light badmouthing other users opinions on the values and sales of piper arrows in particular. I have no pony to race in any of his rants but am just amused how he will resurface to rub the doom and gloom in our noses every time the Rand catches a cold. Reminder he is Forex specialist with a large corporate that just about wished/predicted the rand to tumble to R100 to the US by the end of 2015 and the death of GA (more like his own vindication to leave SA and GA)! Pity the likes of EHS no longer contribute with more sensible posts.

PS R14.10 today

Well said... I stopped reading when I saw that also... =D> =D> =D> =D> His original opening post was "indicative" of his "forex expertise" when predicting the Rand to R100.... now out of the country likely has a vested interest in seeing the Rand decline more... all these predictions are nothing but guesses... and in terms of financial services regulations Barros was/is "giving advice" considering his job role and therefore in my view can be held accountable.

If he - like me - still has money invested in SA, would it not be to his benefit to have a strong rand when trying to get said money out?

His position was debated on here yonks ago so don't see a reason why we should bring it up again.

Hi guys
Having a opinion is not giving advice .
I was hugely wrong and apologised before .
Hopefully you will all now forgive me and We can move on .
I have a vested interest in the rand being strong .
and in Sa prospering .
So can we call it quits .

Opinions are fine but "short the rand now" is not an opinion considering where you work and your designated "speciality" - Forex... positioning as a specialist, regulated by an authority, stops being an opinion, it is actually advice.

Everyone regardless of where they live or have assets can trade currencies and make money on the ups and downs as you well know... I know many people living in SA who wanted to see the ZAR depreciate since incomes were in USD, or they were bringing currency in, or simply had sold short in currency markets... even while living in SA - sound familiar :?:

If Jim says something about aviation, people listen, because he would be considered a specialist and some would take advice on the basis of his comment... same with Forex and financial instruments...

Sort of my point - 90%+ on avcom does not want the "death of GA' thrust down our throats - rather encourage the growth even in the most constraint of financial times - sure it is harder, financially, for South Africans to enjoy one of the worlds last freedoms. Taking a stab at many who are spending their last pennies enjoying that freedom is in bad taste.
Also in other news Barros , How come you go back and edit your posts to suit a changing theme or situation - or is that how things are done in in the big corporate financial world? - thank the Lord I do not partake in financial gambling as a career which ruins others - a close family member worked for such a Financial advisor before - biggest thieving criminal you could meet.

I previously invested with "specialists" only to find that they made more money than I did... now I do everything myself... life insurance, investments, property, shares, currency etc...

Basic principles have worked well over the last 15 years, sticking to the plan... all advisors have vested interests and working on commission is in my view the worst thing ever to happen to financial planning...

The banks IMHO are the worst in all aspects from their financial planners, share traders, currency experts... and there are very few (and likely not on the front line) who actually understand or have an qualified view on where things are going...

The biggest mistake I have ever made was to invest savings at Sanlam. If I invested it at a bank the growth would have been quite a bit more, even after taxes. Sanlam's investments are a seriously bad joke and it will cause sleepless nights, guaranteed...

I realize we're drifting slightly, but one cannot, really really cannot go out and trade on advice given by an unknown entity on an aviation forum...surely. :?

I hear what you are saying about Jim, and it kinda makes sense, but that is also not my philosophy. You want to learn about flying, you go out and ask an instructor, a real life one. You can maybe pick up some theory here, or sort out legalities, but advice about flying it this way or landing it that way...instructor in a real aircraft for me please.

Besides, if they could nail the way a currency is going every single time, everyone would be rich. paulw has stated it in a string of his posts that he is not an expert and the graphs he put up is only from his own - "hobbyist" analysis.

Too late
This is the point, the 'Too Late' and all other posts that subsequently get edited (not for spelling!). Maybe it's me and my personality clash through this social media - but then again many have had these issues in dealing with the over tenuous attempts in dealing with him on other topics. We have lost a few Avcommers( fairly intelligent and resourceful) because of them getting tired of this type of debate.
