cell not enough storage issue

Unread post by Theuns v V » Sat Jan 12, 2019 5:10 pm

Here is another dumb cell android question
My wife's cell (dooggee chinese thing) has now run into an issue with not havng soace to update wassap and that app has not stopped working.

She has deleted hunderds of pix almost all the apps and still the internal storage says it needs 280 odd Mb to update wassap ad after deleting all it hardly did anything.

Now, this cell only has a 1 gig ram If I am correct with the terminology and this seems to be overloaded.

She wants to be a ble to do the wassap update and then see how long it lasts.

We were told to set the cell to factory default and the storage issue will be gone, however the wassap "treads" will all be lost. How can we get the space to updaye wassap? there is an 8 gig extra memory card in the cell.
Will clearing the cache stuff make allot more space?
If not, how can we put the wassap info onto the PC at home so it can be reset to factory and then upload the wassap back to the cell?

Thanx

T
ps. yes I know a new cell with a better size ram will be forst prize but not an option now

Have you rebooted the phone after deleting the photos and other apps?

If you do want to reset to factory default, first go into Whatsapp and make sure it has backed up your messages. You can then restore all the messages once you reinstall Whatsapp.

Some devices don't actually delete data, just put it in a recycle bin of sorts that must be purged to get space.

ot enough storage issue

Rebooting made.no.difference. and there is no access to wassap since it was not updated in time
Question now is,.thenpix on phone we downloaded to an"stokkie" but is there a way.ancell shop or someone will be able.to access.wassap via a back door or.something to see.if what is on there can be transferred t anpc or backed up so the whe thing can be reset to default.
Does resetting to factory default clear ALL memory making the cell usable again?
Where wod this.trashbin be located.and how can we clear it?

would it work if I put her sim into my cell with more memory to do the update or is the app (wassap) stored on her device and not the sim?

It is stored on the device. Moving sim will not help.

Load Whatsapp onto your laptop. Get it to sync and all your messages and pics can be viewed on the laptop. Clean the cell and :)

For this to work your phone must be on and connected and WhatsApp on your phone istalled and working correctly.

That's a given for any device, including desktop computers. Data is never removed, the relevant space is just marked as writeable once again. Which is why the only way to be 100% sure you've disposed of a hard drive with sensitive data on it, is by drilling several holes into it.

Depending on your version of Android, you can have the apps run from the memory card instead of the phone's internal memory. Go to the app's properties and click "Move to SD card". Also set the camera and other system apps to always save to the memory card. Clearing the cache and/or local storage will also work, but you may lose important data some apps saved to the device.
