"Only through discomfort is it possible to reach something deeper."

A small time filmmaker named Iris Zaki made this statement. I agree with her in many ways, I think...

So the best way for inner growth is to put yourself out of your comfort zone..(I'm feeling philosophical today)

What do you think. Is she nailing it or not? :)

But there is nothing new to learn in your comfort zone! :? No opportunity for growth there. To sit on the internet the entire day doesn't count..

Hey I am not saying I dont agree... what about spiritual peace :?: Saying that tongue in cheek but heck, living in SA is a constant "push outside of ones comfort zone"... driving in the traffic, Eskom, yadda yadda.... she's very left wing and I have feelings which might get me banned on leftist thinking... out of her comfort zone is likely discussing with Palestinians about their side of the story which is admirable but heck, if thats the case, the press pushes me outside of my comfort zone enough without me having to go and look for it :!:

Interesting point there Fala! Being in South Africa or Africa we constantly get pushed out of our comfort zone.

I wonder if that is a good or a bad thing in the long run?....

I suppose it depends on what you define as your comfort zone.

Some people thrive on continuously pushing the boundaries, to such an extent that pushing the boundaries IS THEIR comfort zone. To a person such as that, suddenly stopping and not doing something daring or unconventional WOULD BE OUTSIDE HIS COMFORT ZONE but that would NOT lead to reaching something deeper now would it?

Disclaimer: I'm also feeling philosophical today.

<What do you think. Is she nailing it or not?>

Of course she is!

(And if this person is referring to what I <think> he is referring to, then only one rubber glove would be worn, or even one latex finger protector! Unless, perhaps you are female, when two gloves certainly would be worn for a lower, internal examination. <That's exactly what my Medical Examiner said after donning his rubber gloves>)

En baaie dankie, Frans: I think I have just put her in touch with my sister, who lives not far from her and who is similarly leftist! :)
