Happy voting day

Unread post by cage » Mon May 06, 2019 10:41 am

It is that time of the year where we all get to queue to cast our votes.
Whatever your views are, we should all be glad that we do get to have free and fair elections.
So please do vote, democracy doesn't work if you don't take part.
At worst you get the right to complain for the next few years

Since I will be abroad I voted today, the process was painless and the IEC officials were helpful and prepared.
No doubt it will be more chaotic on the big day, so pack in a hat and some fluids and try keep the sense of humour operational.

Sleep in, get up, braai, go to the mall/beach. Go fly.
Then at about 5pm when the crowds have abated pop in to make your cross.
Wish we could vote more often. =D>

Only bad thing is that the results of today's election were stolen from Luthuli House two days ago!

No problem voting, good vibe .. even though it took longer than it should have due to having to join specific lines due to what letter of the alphabet your name begins with...and mine was included with all the "M's" which in SA is half the country.

In any case, I get to the front and they give me the ballot papers ... so I ask for a few more... and they look at me perplexed and tell me that is not how it works ... and I tell them that several parties have phoned me in the last week and I have promised all of them that I would vote for them and that I really dont want to disappoint anyone especially the ATM party as it sounds like I could get some bucks from them :)

Whilst we can be very critical of the government we are likely to end up with...we should be thankful that at least there is a democratic process that proceeds peacefully and can largely be trusted
