Forensics should quite easily be able to determine what went on.
If there are no brake marks heading towards the pillar it will be self-explanatory.

The News24 reporter that walked the scene indicated there were no brake marks to be seen on the video he posted.

Would a car with ABS leave brake or skid marks?
How come every time my ship comes in I'm at the airport?

..or one that had the brake lines cut? (keeping in line with the title of suspicious)

Remember Shabir? if "terminal" cancer can be cured, then surely the dead can be resurrected?

There would be at least one skidmark, but only the coroner would find it..

Wonder if he was wearing a seat belt? That may tell a story if he usually does ...
I read today that apparently he was not wearing his seatbelt. It was clipped in but tucked behind his body, to stop the seatbelt siren from beeping.

Yes, it will leave skidmarks. Maximum braking is achieved at that stage just before the wheels lock up totally, where the tyre will then leave these lightish grey marks on the road instead of the solid black lines from a fully locked up tyre. The ABS aims to keep the wheels in this state of braking just before the wheel locks up completely.

I have managed to lock up the ABS on my Corolla. The stench of rubber was quite pungent.

I drove past the accident scene yesterday morning on my way to catch a flight. The wreck was in the “parking” lane just after the lanes split between parking and drop off.

What a mess. That car hit very very hard.

Suicide ?

Seatbelt behind driver. Pool car. No braking. High speed into stationary object, drivers side contact. Speed well in excess of road conditions (the upcoming corner is a 70 km/h affair, everybody knows that).

Somewhere mentioned that he was unfamiliar with a stick shift.
At age 71 he may have been used to an automatic but back in the 60/70s when he learned to drive column shift manuals were the norm.

Add a few more known facts.

Calling a sudden prayer meeting on a Sunday at the offices. Using a pool car as stated.

Going to the airport at high speed, no cell phone, no passport, no luggage and R70 in his pocket.

Seat belt not used (not 100% confirmed but alleged). No brake marks.

Does not add up. :?
