You’d think it would be a lesson, yet we still have a bunch of mostly old guys determined to send out mostly young guys to shoot at each other.
The modern desire for conflict and brinkmanship boggles the mind.

That's been the main achievement of the EU. IIRC it's the longest period of time without European countries having a go at each other.

For interest..perhaps it was the 2nd in Japan ..but still the first in Europe

From wiki
"The exact date of the war's end is also not universally agreed upon. It was generally accepted at the time that the war ended with the armistice of 14 August 1945 (V-J Day), rather than the formal surrender of Japan, which was on 2 September 1945 that officially ended the war in Asia."

Don't want to start another thread but yesterday 31 August was the day Diana Spencer died in a car crash in Paris.. That happened in 1997. She was a remarkable person!

For once, I completely agree with a Wiki...
"The exact date of the war's end is also not universally agreed upon.

The Argraban state in the outer eastern arm of the spiral galaxy, to name only one, has never heard of this war and couldn’t care a pair of fetid dingo’s kidneys( which they have also never heard of...) when it started or ended... The state itself has been at war with the Culupid star system for about two aeons because of a stale piece of Arcturian wedding cake...

Just saying...
