Hmmm, sorry guys, I think there is more to this 2 hour marathon record than meets the eye. Rather like Usain Bolt, Mo Farah et al.

Impressive feat, but sadly I doubt it was done clean.

There has been much written about him and his ethics.
Very little to indicate what you are insinuating and he has been happy to submit to international testing.
While Kenya has had its issues, nothing has ever implicated him nor has he ever been suspected.

That's precisely my point, just my suspicion given the preponderance of it in similar feats. Only one of the three I mentioned, who I was certain was doping, was confirmed to me - by one of Ben Johnsons former teammates. Volumes written and said about his ethics too. No proof/conviction though, or perhaps a deliberate blind eye. Rather like the outrage over Armstrong, who was also widely reported as clean. They were all at it, he was simply the most successful.

Still a remarkable feat, doping or not.

Indeed. I was listening to it being discussed on a radio show -
They suggested everyone go and run at that pace and see how long it can be sustained.
Someone said it equates to a 17 second hundred meters, just run for a whole lot longer. 8-[

Yes - does not matter which way you look at it. This is really really hard. I run a couple of times a week myself (VERY amateurish stuff - just to keep fit), 5Km, 10Km on Saturdays, sometimes 15Km. I suffer through that - I am just a twerp compared to this guys performance. The little bit of running I do myself makes me admire and appreciate what he has achieved and I am completely in awe. I take my hat off.
Who said the sky is the limit ? I think not.

Go to an athletics track, and try to do just one 400m circuit in 68seconds. Then remember this guy keeps up that pace for 2 hours!!!
