Unread post by GRAHAMW » Wed Oct 30, 2019 6:20 pm

(CNN)A plane crashed into an apartment building Wednesday morning off Interstate 85 in northeast Atlanta, according to the DeKalb County Police Department.

Details are slim, but DeKalb County police said they were responding to the scene.

It was not clear if there are any casualties or what type of plane was involved.

hotos from the crash scene show a two-story building missing a large swath of its brick facade. There was also roof damage. Atlanta Journal-Constitution photojournalist John Spink tweeted the images.

Firefighters and police were on the scene, the photos show.

Only one car was parked in the immediate vicinity of the building.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

There are no signs of a plane in those photos - I wonder if its all inside the house?
Maybe a suicide like the chap who flew a 182 into a flat in Parktown North JHB?

According to the news articles and videos the FAA confirmed that it was a Piper Arrow. The Cessna accident mentioned above happened on Tuesday in a different state, hitting houses and setting at least three of them on fire, see here for that story.

If you don't gear up your brain before takeoff, you'll probably gear up your airplane on landing.

Seems like it was indeed inside the house. And with so many cases of aircraft hitting houses intentionally just in the last two years it is quite possible that it might have been suicide...

And I thought Americans were geographically challenged...

Re the Cessna - Linden is about 20 nm from me under the approach for Newark. It was LIFR at the time of the crash.
FAA ASEL COM (IF), MCSA SAR member, flies out of FACT, KBLM (Monmouth Exec, NJ - USA).
