Flying a glider

Unread post by 117 »

If you want to experience flying in it's purest form, please visit the previous thread for your nearest gliding club, or alternatively post a thread and one of the chaps from the nearest club will respond.

All clubs are very accommodating, and welcome flying in to their fields for a visit. (Please see their respective website for approach/joining procedures as well as respective frequency's they operate on)

If you have any questions or queries relating to glider flight, technology, design, or what happens when the wind stops blowing, feel free to post a thread with your questions.

The aim of the SSSA secion on Avcom is to encourage interaction between the various disciplines of flying and gliding, and encourage other pilots to experience glider flying/training etc. Political debates generated here will probably not get answered as this is the incorrect forum or approach to said debate [-X

And we are working to resovle the schlepp at gliding clubs. We want to target the cumbersomeness (??) of getting your GPL, or converting a PPL to a GPL, so that it becomes more attractive for the time constrained people

I sold my aircraft two years ago after getting tired of the beauracratic CAA and the dictatorial attitude of the management at FAPM. I have let my PPL has lapse.
I recently i came across a clip on gliding and this appears to be what I may be looking for .
Can someone advise what I have to go through to work my way through to a GPL. I have 500 hours on fixed wing and maybe 80 hours on microlights. Also where is the best club out of Durban?
