Although not everyone will agree, I've found the Skyleader/Rapid-Sabre to be a very useful Ultra-light trainer at it's hourly rate at Flying School Johannesburg located at FATA.
Students gain useful experience on the trailing-link electric retractable gear, Fowler flaps & VP prop.
This of course becomes extra valuable to students progressing to their CPL.
Being equipped with staggered side-by-side seating there is space for 2 burly people.
The control-stick each side is good as is the centrally-located throttle.
Control-inputs are light & responsive unlike other types.
The wearing of a wide-brimmed hat is recommended as the hot African sun gives one plenty heat inside, even with 2 knee-high vents & 2 elbow-vents.
The Rotax 912S motor is very common on so many ultra/micor-lights, so needs little discussion.
There is a new Skyleader at FATA fitted with the 914 turbo-charged 114hp motor & is identified by a larger cowling.
Of interest is the new fuel-injection motor just announced.
