We picked up CYR today from George . My son did the handover flight and landed with a smile from ear to ear. Len thanks for doing an awesome job on CYR. The flight back to CT this afternoon was great she maintained 800/1000 ft in the climb till 8500 with full tanks and two big boys up front. Never seen EGT/ CHT so good before . UMMM OT sensor is not right :D :D

Thanks again see you all in 25 hrs for a checkup :D :) =D>

Bla f$&/(n bla!
So what are they doing about CORRECTING the things going wrong?
As in, what replacement parts can we use to replace the inferior failing parts and still keep the Jab data plate that we bought with hard earned cash in good faith???
We already have a lot of experience in identifying the problems and don't need to be told how to look for them.
The excuses blaming the operators and maintainers are wearing very thin now.
It has become common to see even the best cooled and cared for engines fail routine blo-by tests at 200-300 hours.
As an AP I have to tell owners and operators that the top has to come off on a 100hr "service" and they are getting gatvol with good reason.
It is clear to me that this is Jab Aus's answer to the recent prod by CAASA but in my opinion the problem remains and they are just covering their arses with another bulletin.

I glanced through the SL. Seems quite sensible to me. I'll read in full tomorrow.

Very sensible. I just hope the owners doing the assessment are honest with themselves and there AME. Good reading I think.

Replacing studs and through-bolts is hardly an exercise that can be called a "full tear down".
Mine is done and dusted. I think it took about 3 hours.

My J160 engine packed up a few weeks back. It is at the factory and I went to have a look. A valve broke and with that the conrod twisted braking the piston etc.

Based on the SL Jabiru JSL014-1 that was not done by my AMO I now sit with this. There need to be a PROPER Jabiru AMO fasility, not a man in a van or someone doing this parttime.....

So guys I suggest you do this SL ASAP before you also in my situation.

The good thing for me js, I am getting a new blueprinted engine as a replacement....

Argh! Sorry to hear about your woes, BoF.

I think JSL014-1 is a very sensible protocol, for any aero engine.
In my opinion it embodies what a competent AMO should be doing anyway. We say that when an engine tries to tell us something we should listen. JSL014-1 tells us HOW to listen.
