Mysterious - repeating radio burst from deep space

Unread post by HJK 414 » Thu Jan 10, 2019 1:27 pm

I find this amazing ......
FRB's (Fast Radio Bursts) are quite common - but to my knowledge this is only the second time we have measured a repeating FRB.
And this one is really repetitive ..... which would exclude any collision of space matter or an exploding star.

I wouldn't believe those scientists, with their postulating and guesswork. Probably just trying to get more funding from the government with this radio burst hoax. Everyone knows bursts are just part of the life changes the universe goes through.. ;)

Smarta$$ ......

I have found this whole space exploration with radio telescopes fascinating for a long time ......
The probability of us being the only one's that happened to have a planet that sustains life ...... in such a vast universe, with so many stars (as our sun) ........

If you look at Voyager - which was launched in 1977 - that has only recently left our part of this universe and is now in interstellar space ....
40 years of travelling - nonstop ....

Fascinating ....

Agree. I used to be one of the top users doing number crunching for SETI, was fortunate to have a hitech lab at my disposal and could use free cycles to look for ET.

Statistically I agree it has to be possible, though the odds of finding two developed species (and I use that term loosely in the human context) at the same time, in communication distance is probably very, very small.
I am sure life has existed, and will exist, elsewhere in the universe but finding them could be a touch difficult.

Fascinating and at the same time depressing.

At the speed it is moving, it will take about another 100 000 years just to get to our nearest neighbouring star!!!!

We will have built a themepark, museum and burgerrestaurant around it by the time it gets there.

Yep, our levy and rates owing to the Euroverse has never been paid, but if we have a billing query please use the alien contact center on Betelgeuse.

What if some hectic Predator like bunch does show up and start to give us the good news... maybe those radio signals in alien speak are saying we closing in on earth and there is some damn fine food on the planet, billions of humans, early explorers had some human flesh a few hundred years ago on a covert visit and it was excellent, now we need to go back and process them into our abattoirs and storage and take them back home!

Man if I see Predator in my back yard someday I think I'll scream like a little girl!

Look at this cat - run for your freaking life! The big question is - will you be around when they show up!
