... and I suppose that is one aspect which now wont correspond to what my passport says (it may say I am male but identify as female)... interesting but maybe a can of worms.... what when the picture of "me" is not the same as how I now look (after changing my gender), will they respect my human rights then :?:

I might decide one day to wear shoes which increase my height and change from male to female and then throw a tantrum at customs for not respecting my human rights...

Nice bit of marketing by United but seriously... #-o

I agree Ray,

Was at the Municipal offices of Enschede in Holland last week - and whilst waiting, decide to make a visit to the toilet.
I walk into the toilets area - and there are 2 ladies in front of the mirrors - re-applying their facial recognition plaster.
I apologized - walked out and looked where the Gents would be ...…

After fruitless search - asked a lady at the desk - "no gents" ........ [-X ........all one flavour …..

Genderneutral .......... #-o

I suddenly lost the urge.
World is going mad.

unisex toilets are nothing new.
Quite practical where there is limited space.
People love labelling others. Is it really necessary to call someone stupid because they have a different view of their sexualities and would like to be recognised?
If they called you dinosaurs you'd be horribly offended.
Live with it, the world is changing and they are going to be here long after you have become worm fodder.

Cage

A unisex toilet is a closed space where gents or ladies can utilize the loo. (behind a closed door - as in aircraft).
A "genderneutral" sanitary facility (in a council office the size of the Titanic by the way) is an open space - with a glass separation space - behind which there are some urinals and further some closed cubicles ……. I find that disturbing to have women parading around the same space when I am having a leak (I accept that there is a milk glass separation shield there / 4 feet high or so which prevents the other occupants of the space a view below the chest height).

Nevertheless - if that makes us dinosaurs - so be it.
We do not all have the "enlightenment" of the young generation you seem to be blessed with.

:D The world isn't going mad. It was mad and is slowly coming right!

This becomes increasingly apparent if you look back on a long enough timeline. Don't think 2/5/10 years. Think 25/50/75 years (in the latter case we're talking of a World at War!) but even longer is even more educational. Think 100/150/200 years ago. What was life like for the majority of people in (currently considered) first-world civilized countries (England, France, Germany etc) ?

Question is, what does it mean to/for you?

I suspect the answer is nothing. If it's more than nothing then I'm not sure why it's your business.

Don’t really care how a person wishes too see themselves. What does concern me is what standard weight is used for the load sheet. Male standard weight would be the most conservative way.
Also if there is a crash, how do they identify an Mx, surely they can only be identified as male or female by their remains.

Sounds like PC gone mad too me!

At the end of the day, identifying is very easy:
IF you are human and have X and Y chromosomes, YOU ARE MALE!
IF you are human and only have X chromosomes, YOU ARE FEMALE!
No matter what you say, do, feel, like or what equipment you have removed or for that matter, what shaped lelie you prefer.
Chromosomes cannot ever be changed. Vive la différence.
A true friend has the guts to tell you what you need to hear.

Time are changing, whether people like it or not. At least the world is becoming more inclusive. In every generation there are people who think the world is going mad because of any change that does not fit in their own little comfort zone. If everyone listened to these people we would still have been in the stone age. You don't have to agree with everything, but at least live and let live. Who knows, you might just be wrong after all.

Why do you have to identify everyone according to gender? Why can't they just identify you according to your name and identity number (DNA) from the start? I mean, once you sorted everyone according to gender (like you want to do) you have to sort the individual males and females according to their individual identities anyway.

Flawed argument... if you have to ask "why you have to identify someone according to gender" then I would ask "why identify anyone at all" :?:

When the police for instance try and identify someone who has committed a crime, how would you suggest they go about this if not by physical characteristics, gender being just one of them, color of their skin, hair color, please enlighten me because I am frankly lost here :?:
