Ye Gods - that wasn't a landing - that was someone who was determined to get on the ground, no matter what!

Avherald
Listeners on frequency report the aircraft lost radio contact at about FL100 and returned to Sheremetyevo without radio contact with ATC.

A ground observer reported he witnessed the landing. The aircraft bounced, on the third critical touchdown both main gear struts collapsed and the aircraft caught fire.

A video shows no smoke and no fire from the aircraft prior to touchdown.

They must have had serious control issues to land like that? Or the pilots were panicking like hell.

I do not see fire trucks chasing the plane or being close when people are sliding down the ramp?

They say that all electrics were lost, yet the video taken on the plane seems to show that the lights were on in the cabin and you can hear the intercom jingle.

I'm not sure about the lights - there seems to be a lot of reflection from the fire. However, as far as the intercom system: Due to a number of accidents over the years where people died or were badly injured during evacuation that were later linked to PA systems that didn't work following an emergency landing, it is now a requirement that these systems can operate for a few minutes completely independently of the rest of the aircraft systems:
Sec. 25.1423 — Public address system.
A public address system required by this chapter must—

(a) Be powerable when the aircraft is in flight or stopped on the ground, after the shutdown or failure of all engines and auxiliary power units, or the disconnection or failure of all power sources dependent on their continued operation, for—

(1) A time duration of at least 10 minutes, including an aggregate time duration of at least 5 minutes of announcements made by flight and cabin crewmembers, considering all other loads which may remain powered by the same source when all other power sources are inoperative; and

(2) An additional time duration in its standby state appropriate or required for any other loads that are powered by the same source and that are essential to safety of flight or required during emergency conditions.

Once again evacuating pax carrying their cabin baggage. That delay must surely have cost lives.

Yeah - bit harsh on the fire crew. Not like they are parked between the runways. They would still need to scramble personnel and probably drive some distance to the actual final resting position of the aircraft, while avoiding active runways and taxiing aircraft.

77 seconds sounds like pretty rapid response to me.

They should've been in position and ready for something........ The aircraft squawked RCF nearly 20mins before it 'landed' and 7700 on short final. All the flying done after the 7600 was quite erratic. No excuse for Fire and Rescue not to be in position.

There are reports of passengers reaching for their luggage during the evacuation. Infuriating!

I should imagine that once the panic hits people stop thinking, they just react and grabbing for possessions would be instinctive, especially if important docs/treasured items, etc in there.
