Sightly off topic, but when did Emirates suspend EK778, the third daily to Cape Town? Was it due to lack of demand?

Cape Town has seen a massive increase in supply in the last 18 months:
* Regional services by RwandAir, Kenya Airways and increased capacity by TAAG
* Seasonal services to Asia by Cathay Pacific
* Increased capacity from Qatar and Ethiopian suing bigger aircraft
* Additional capacity from LH group (Austrian seasonal services and more frequencies to Germany)

I suspect Emirates is just managing their yields.

The cancellation of EK778/779 really sucks. EK779 had great timing. Out of CPT at 2000 and arrival in DXB at 0600.
In the battle between aeroplanes and the ground. The ground has yet to lose.

Aviation would be great, if it wouldn't be for passengers.

Also bear in mind DXB is down to one runway at the moment due to maintenance and upgrading, so a number of "marginal" flights were put on hold due to lack of runway capacity particularly at that time of arrival in Dubai. Pretty sure normal service will be resumed shortly.
