Escape Airways, Skylink Airways and Joly Airlines
I see CH-Aviation is reporting the delayed launch of Escape Airways in South Africa. Who are they and what’s the background?
I’m also seeing a SA Skylink pop up on LinkedIn. Never heard of them either
EDIT 05/10/2021: I’ll add Joly Airlines to this mystery list which appears on LinkedIn

Re: Escape Airways
Perhaps the new SAA have thought of a new name ?
Escape reality ?
Escape financial prudence ?
Escape from professionalism
and deny any realism ............. ?
Simply - Escape ....

That looks remarkably similar to the Delta Airlines logo.

Re: Escape Airways and Skylink Airways
Clarence Andrea Steyn's profile on linked in, show him to be the owner of 26 different businesses? Including: Pula Airways Botswana, South African Flying Springbok Airways Pty Ltd, Gazprom Petroleum Oil and Gas Company South Africa Pty Ltd. Gazprom happens to be the largest public natural gas company in the world, and apparently the largest company in Russia. All these companies were set up in Jan 2020, or Jan 2021.
This looks super dodgy.

The Russian oil and gas pals must have a hand in supplying the Sukhoi jets.

Re: Escape Airways and Skylink Airways
Good luck with that venture ......
The Sukhoi jet has been dropped by every operator .....
No spares - no back-up - constant AOG drama....
No wonder they only wish to start flying end of 2022 ..
First bring over a mountain of spares .....

Re: Escape Airways and Skylink Airways
Looks like Skylink is just a load of Walter Mitty pie-in-the-sky <<moderated - language>>.
CH-Aviation have done some proper digging and found that he hasn’t even applied for any licences, operator certificates or permits and the SACAA haven’t accepted the Sukhoi Superjet’s airworthiness certification.
The guy also seems to have all sorts of curious interests, like claiming to be Gazprom’s South African subsidiary. At least one of his businesses was de-registered by the authorities for failure to comply with SARS requirements, ie. not filed tax returns or paid taxes.

Unfortunately, he is selling a pipe dream to thousands of people who have already lost their jobs, or are in the process of losing them.
I can't imagine that everyone will be overly willing to accept its inevitable failure, if failure is even the right word for something that's likely never going to exist outside of someone's mind or a designer's livery.
There are even some relatively well-known names inquiring with him about flight crew positions...
