Compliments to the SACAA.

Following some reports of pretty poor service regarding renewal procesess I submitted my paperwork via email with PoP of the required fees on Tuesday 15th June and received an email request to login to the new portal today 20th June. 5 days total, 3.5 working days.

Logged in and license renewed valid and all endorsements, medical, restrictions and ratings correct.

Now just to collect my card.....

Good work SACAA... =D> =D> =D>
Did you submit the passport photo electronically or hard copy? If electronically, did you submit the correctly resized image or simply a high def image? Cheers
I submitted a high res JPEG in April, it appeared on the latest version of my license :)

Softness took a cellphone pic of me against a white background, qed. Can't wait to see how it looks on the card....

I also did the application for my PPL via email, sent POP and it took about 1 week for all my details to be loaded on my profile. Then 1 week of silence, After phoning them they said its ready to be collected. So I suspect that once your details are online and correct wait a day or two and ring them and just confirm or email them. In both my applications in the last year it was ready but I was never notified. That system is the problem.

Oh wow, I think that it is actually pretty impressive that there was someone who really took the initiative to send an email to address the issues. I wish more people were like that, I am honestly so amazed about it. It was really great.

Hi guys, this thread is very helpful, thank you.

Could someone kindly confirm that this is the correct form to use for my annual PPL renewal?

http://www.caa.co.za/Part%2061%20Licens ... 61-183.pdf

I still have the old brown book, license is valid until August 2022, I did a proficiency check a year ago and I have more than 3 hours as pic in the last 6 months.

Thank you,

Heye

Yes that is the one I used in July this year for my annual currency for PPL. And I even got the new card license without submitting a new photo.

Hi

SACAA and service can't be mentioned in the same sentence!

I am treating SACAA like ICASA currently...
When I paid for a Lic renewal or ATF and submitted the forms the proof of payment is a valid document...

I have a GPL and glider ATF obviously and the lack of service from SACAA beyond cr@p!
I reckon it is even worse than for the PPL guys...

I am not being held hostage by their appalling lack of service any longer.

Guys just to let you know, I have experienced excellent service lately, renewing my PPL.

I paid the fee, filled in the forms, summarised my logbook and sent them scanned copies via email. I immediately received an emailed acknowledgement of receipt via email with a commitment that I would hear back from them within 7-10 working days. On day 8 or 9 I received an email confirming that the license was ready for collection. I got Aviation Assist to do so and courier it down to me.

When I opened the envelope I see it contained the new card-type license with a QR code on it which is readable by phone and has all of the license information on it.

I really think this is very good and professional service, making it easy for me to do the renewals and a big step forward in terms of technological improvement and moving with the times/going paperless.

I am really happy and think we should give credit where credit is due.

Thanks,

Heye

the email address atf@caa.co.za has not been monitored for more than a week, a fundamental workstream not happening. The excuse 'the server was down' clearly a lie, it was received, the only thing lost in the ether was management checking that a weka was assigned to assign the incoming work stream, wonder if anyone noticed how quiet it was.

Call up the CAA aircraft department and ask for a lady called Palesa Mthabela, she sorted my ATF out in a few minutes, she was friendly and efficient.

Hi guys.

We have been waiting more than 6 weeks for our ATF now. Is this normal?

CAA is taking forever.

What are we to do to get our ATF earlier?

Hi guys,
Submitted my ATF renewal request to atf@caa.co.za on 28 Oct but have not had confirmation of receipt, how long does that confirmation take.
Also copied it to registration@caa.co.za to make sure.
Is this the correct process as I have heard zilch ?
Thank you,
Arthur.

Arthur it can take up to a week before they acknowledge receipt and assign an official to your renewal. My opinion is also that you might end up causing a confusion by copying it to another address as well.

Greylie did you get the confirmation email?
