Upington fuel

Hi all

Does anyone know if upington has Avgas or do they have a number I can call. I've tried their towers landline (which I normally use) but the last couple days it hasn't been connecting.

Been there 2 weeks ago, just tell TWR that you require fuel on initial contact. Truck will fuel you at your parking space.

Spoke to them 2 days ago, they have a supply problem at the moment. Very limited stock avail on Avagas...good change they will run dry!

I don't get it. I had the same problem years ago when I flew a friend to Swakopmund to collect his Diamond Katana there. We had to borrow a pipe, siphon fuel from the plane into the cans, and then push the plane back to the pumps to fill it again. The fuel in the cans had come from the same pumps, but had to do the trip via the aircraft tanks.

Sometimes I have severe concerns about the sanity of some people who are "in aviation".

Agree - really stupid mentality driven by some regulation that an ignorant "expert" put together....

The reason, as urban legends go, that they don't want to throw avgas in jerry can, is because drag racers can then easilly get their hands on it.

But joking aside, so far no one send me packing yet when I show up at the pump with my 2 jerries and ask for just a little fuel to get my aerie off the ground.

Pretty certain the fuel service will be fast if they do it while you are landing.........
