Airlink has temporarily wet-leased a B737-300 from STAR AIR CARGO to provide additional passenger capacity, whilst it awaits the delivery of five additional E190s. These include three E195LRs from Nordic Aviation Capital and two E190ARs. The first of the new jets is expected in the next few days. The new additions will increase Airlink's fleet to 62 aircraft!

Big news literally - a long expected step up to narrow bodies - even if they are just wet leased they may pave the way for full service A or Bs.
Given the huge fares they are currently getting for seats it must be a no brainer to wet lease.

Great news on the additional five ERJs! This now takes the ERJ170/190 fleet up to 25!

With Airlink and Safair's expansion, I'm sure that they're snapping up ex SAA, Mango and Comair guys quickly. Safair are probably quite interested in the Mango and Comair guys given they'll already have B737 ratings, but I suppose there are a lot of guys going ERJ conversions in South Africa at the moment. Airlink have an ERJ simulator these days so no doubt doing conversions in house. Great to see this sort of capacity at Airlink. Kudos to Roger!

Highly unlikely, Roger Foster has made it clear that he does not want ex-SAA crew hired. Safair prefer guys that are rated with time on type. There’s a lot of ex-SAA guys out there that are not flying, especially Airbus only guys.

OK, lets look at it the other way around. Does anybody know af any ex-SAX or ex-SAA pilots hired by Airlink over the last 24 months?

Not that it matters, they are obviously allowed to decide how they go about things. I too would be wary of hiring 10000+ hour co-pilots (no DECs) when a large percentage of my captains are younger pilots with much less time.
