Just a quick note, as an AMO I have referred to your register almost on a daily basis to double check serial numbers and aircraft models and it has become so valuable to me since the demise of the previous online register. I have a register of my own that I update with each search, but still regularly find aircraft have changed... so this is really a very valuable tool to me.
The CAA does not yet have a functioning online register, I check regularly... still haven't managed to find anything functional. I once sent an email requesting information on an aircraft and got an email response saying my request would be attended to six months later .
I have just noticed that I cannot find the Avcom register... is it gone?
Believe me I would be devastating news.

Re: Avcom Register?
No personal information was shared, only aircraft details... which is quite the norm. You can do a "N" registration search on the FAA site for all the same gen, actually gives a lot more. Can't see how the nonsense personal information act can kick in here.

Yet property ownership, which in my eyes should be more private than aircraft ownership, is open to anyone. Not only who you are and your number, but also how much you paid!
Why is that OK?

Re: Avcom Register?
Property ownership have to agree, estate agent's access to this "Lightstone" story, with all your info, then they call you asking if you want to sell your house, then when you say no, they're like... "Are you sure?"..... "Yeah, pretty sure, if I wanted to I think I'd know!! Stop calling me!"
With the aircraft info, having access is kind of relevant for us, I wouldn't mind having to register to disclose the reason for requiring access and how much information I would need... I would personally only want the aircraft info, make/model/serial number, but for airports they would require more information for billing of landing fees/parking etc... this really needs looking at.
