Re: Hill HX50 helicopter
I havent read the entire thread, just watched the video. It looks very cool, but building helicopters is about compromise. That demo shows lots of features, then sorta skims over how they will tackle the nitty gritty things like inspection panels and footwells/steps. Those are the kind of things that make helicopters look a lot different than their original design.
The standard features are also very impressive, but costly. I would expect the unit price to balloon by the time it actually looks like hitting the market.

They raised R140M in the 80's, almost as much as Hill now in relative currency.
FOMO and greed a helicopter doth not make.
Have not checked but presume it is as far from flying now as it was with the first CGI video.
Anyone open to a 3-way bet? First test-flight to first-ship to first smoking crater in the ground?

Re: Hill HX50 helicopter
Last night's update and AMA.
An interesting piece is where he described the quality control from the first manufacturing step. Test flying the machine is only the very last quality confirmation step. There are many advantages to manufacturing everything yourself!
He's making waves for sure. 1300 sold. Amazing!
