Re: CPL
Smaller airfields and NTCA aircraft are generally lower cost than Piper/Cessna.
Check Panorama, Springs, Rhino Park etc..
Also check the diesel C172 think there are some at Rand.
My 2c is to enjoy the hour building and get some diverse experience vs rushing through it, eg. Landing on dirt/grass strips, narrow, wide, trip down to the coast.
(Take an instructor with if you if are unsure or new to something, i.e grass strip)
100 hours of PIC is plenty time to learn bad behaviors so make sure you keep up the standards or the Instrument rating becomes a challenge

Re: CPL
And I often say, if you feel comfortable with the aircraft and field, (you can go half moon or better) do some hour building at night, as quite a few contract companies offering those entry jobs do not fly at night. I know plenty with the hours for ATPL but still need to go and hire and fly to do night hours...

Re: CPL
Yes you would need to do a convex and have it added to your license in order to fly PIClukh36260@gmail.com wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 9:41 am Good day .I checked Panorama, Springs & rhino park so far and their rates we're more or less around the same rate at my school .I’m curious on the NTCA aircraft ,would I need to do a conversion and I’ve been surfing the web trying to look for NTCA aircraft that offer hour building around JHB I haven’t been lucky .

What are you currently flying?
Mid 2023 there was about a 200 rand difference per hour between a sling 2 and a c172
I never used them but Kroon airfield at one point had a Savanah which was for hire and fly

JFA have Sling2 and a Sling4 , yes rating required , maybe consider doing your tailwheel rating , good experience .Consider flying from smaller fields (panorama etc ) you will be exposed to many like mined pilots and again good experience ( unmanned joining etc ) mt 2c

Re: CPL
Bit of a thread drift here but I strongly suggest(if you want to make a career out of it) you get an electronic logbook going as well. Saves you a lot of time in the long run with applications and logbook summaries.lukh36260@gmail.com wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 9:29 am Good day

I would also recommend doing as much of your hour building at night as you will require 100 hours PIC or co-pilot night time for your ATP.
These hours can be tricky to get in the beginning of one's career.

Re: CPL
Hi My advise is try using these hour building hours wisely , try getting the best value ,so some nice LONG cross country's , night flying , tailwheel rating , etc etc , again my2clukh36260@gmail.com wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 2:45 pmCurrently I fly PIC on the PA28A and c172Phugoid wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 11:23 amYes you would need to do a convex and have it added to your license in order to fly PIClukh36260@gmail.com wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 9:41 am Good day .I checked Panorama, Springs & rhino park so far and their rates we're more or less around the same rate at my school .I’m curious on the NTCA aircraft ,would I need to do a conversion and I’ve been surfing the web trying to look for NTCA aircraft that offer hour building around JHB I haven’t been lucky .

Agree with the TW rating, fun and challenging but improves your skills immenselyAlan stewart wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 3:31 pmHi My advise is try using these hour building hours wisely , try getting the best value ,so some nice LONG cross country's , night flying , tailwheel rating , etc etc , again my2clukh36260@gmail.com wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 2:45 pmCurrently I fly PIC on the PA28A and c172Phugoid wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 11:23 am Yes you would need to do a convex and have it added to your license in order to fly PIC
