Do not trade using an e-wallet or any instant money method

There is a person who is frequenting a number of recreational forums classified sections and ripping community members off. There are about half a dozen reports in our own Trader Watch section.

The modus operandi is the same each time, where the person makes contact via PM, whatsapp or any form of instant messaging and encourages the trade to be done via a e-wallet. (E-wallet is a means to send money to a cell phone number with a pin to withdraw funds directly from a bank ATM)

For now, we would strongly discourage any person from using an e-Wallet unless you are 100% certain about the person you are transacting with. Our trader watch section is littered with community members having been ripped off by this means.

This person contacted me yesterday wanted me to make a cash wallet payment.... this is for a wanted add I put on Avcom for a Magnum 120FS head. When I asked him for banking details he insists that I do cash payment. He said he will forward banking details but till this morning nothing..... one must know your banking details by heart isn't it?

Also had a problem earlier this week. The guy deposit R99 for a parcel I have to send. I withdraw 300 bucks after the help of the guard lekka in my pocket.

Nothing personal whatsoever....a lot of avcom people lost a lot of money with cash payments recently....this is a type of payment that rather needs to be avoided. In future better to only work via PM on Avcom.... my apology if it offended you but not meant like that....

No excuse its my own fault but I also got scammed by the same guy using the name, surname and ID of Gabriel Steenkamp.

Think its the same guy that's registered in this group with e-mail "Ben61".

Luckily its was only R400.00 but still....

The name Gabriel Steenkamp and his ID is legitimate. So it must be ID theft as well. The person Steenkamp resides in Strand, Cape Town.

How do one stop this guy.??

Die selfde Sid het my so week terug gekontak ivm Great planes 60 stick wat ek soek. Gese hy het nuwe een in boks vir R800.... reeds "fishy" geklink toe ek prys hoor.... hy gese hy so 60km uit Bloem. Him gevra om arie na vriend van my in Bloem te neem dan kontant gee by aflewering... ook gevra wat is sy Avcom username....hy nooit na my teruggekom nie....

Dink as ons direkte whatsups kry en daar is nie a Avcom ID moet ons geen betalings maak....Baie kansvatters nou

Keep a good look out for a guy by the name of Martin de Klerk, alias Jaco de Klerk, he use number 0717899606 he is from Bloemfontein speak with a deep voice, use FNB savings account Branch; 2550655 Acc 62803271402 or Nedbank mobile money; IMali no 0717899609 (same as his phone number). He react on wanted post items on AVCOM come up with a ridicules cheap price insist on cash into the account with special clearance before he send the goods.
We need to expose these guys bring them to book....bushveld court!!!

Scammed by a guy under the name of S J Pretorius , number he used was 073 285 4646 he got me to pay into his Capitec Account, 1539619964 and his alleged ID no was 620227 5231 088.
Contacted me regarding a Cargo hook for a heli which I had put a wanted add out for. Took me for a considerable amount of money. Also a deep voice
Going to SAPS and Capitec to report

Same thing just happened to me in reply to "Wanted aircraft tug". Man with a deep voice, originally contacted me as user "MiguelS". Contacted me on WhatsApp and took cash for aircraft tow bar and then tried the same on hangar. Sounds like the same playbook as used on other people on this forum.
