Greetings,
My RSA ATPL lapsed for more than 36 months, so I have to write air law and IR plus initial ATPL Skills test. I have maintained and flown in the airlines (B737 CL) on a foreign licence during this time though.
I want to do the ATPL skills test on the DA-42 instead of buying SIM time on the B737 CL because:
* I believe it will be cheaper
* I want to start GA flying and this is an opportunity.
* The DA-42 has more advanced avionics than the B737 CL (no GPS, only basic EFIS EADI/EHS + standard steam) and I can get to add PBN endorsements on my licence.
My initial ATPL test was in a commanche at grand central in 2011, so I have been out of the flight school scene for many years.I will like suggestions on flying schools in Gauteng that have a DA-42 in good condition and where the DE is an airline pilot.
Thanks
ATPL REVALIDATION USING DA-42

Re: ATPL REVALIDATION USING DA-42
Aeronav at Lanseria have DA-42 ZS-TDI on their full time fleet and a pretty new ALSIM simulator.

Re: ATPL REVALIDATION USING DA-42
Just confirm with your DFE, but I believe the skills test needs to be completed in a multi-crew environment Thus certain sims have to be used
what goes around, comes around.

Re: ATPL REVALIDATION USING DA-42
I remember reading this multi-crew requirement in 2011, when I did my initial test. The test was conducted in a PA-30 twin commanche, but the DFE did the radio work, and any other PM tasks i called for including PF duties while I briefed the approach etc.
Thanks for the reminder though I will ask the DFE.
