Re: Hill HX50 helicopter
Only new parts. But the engine is coming together nicely imo. Bench testing in 3-4 months. They moved to their new and final site. Most of the big mills and machinery are installed now. It is a massive undertaking on its own!
I still believe in the project...

Interesting… be curious to know people’s experiences… could this be a viable alternative for a private machine?Whirly wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:20 amRobin Coss was building one a few years ago, don't know what happened to it.jus wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:11 amAre there any operational Hummingbirds in SA..?skycruise wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 5:55 pm Here is my latest take on the Hill Helicopter >> https://rapidskyhelicopters.com/getting ... elicopter/

Not yet, but we do have tentative orders, mainly with the diesel engine. One with the Adept 320T burning mogas.

I spoke with Coss earlier this year, to find out if they would be interested in assembling for us.
The quote was very high, and about the same as labour cost in Italy, which is where we are assembling now.
In our discussions, they did speak of the Hummingbird they built, which was eventually sold to the USA.
My take is that they are making enough hay with the RV builds, and not interested in diversifyng from that.
