The main focus of the QC Inspector role is to enhance, improve and monitor the overall Technical Engineering processes performed by engineers during aircraft maintenance, including inspection of the supporting documents, records, tooling, aircraft parts and consumables used and any other paperwork required to support aircraft maintenance activities.
Act as an independent reviewer to ensure that compliance issues / concerns within the Technical Production Department are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, reported, resolved and if necessary to identify change that could improve compliance and/or processes.
Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk to develop and/or implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to eliminate or deal with similar situations in the future.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE QCI
• The QCI will monitor the physical Engineering on the aircraft, compliance with Company procedures and best practices, Safety Awareness and overall Discipline. Furthermore, the QC will monitor the administrative duties and tasks of the Maintenance Engineering process performed by the Engineers, including maintenance records for completeness and accurate recording of maintenance performed on aircraft, related components and assemblies.
• The QC position will be responsible for duties associated with quality compliance and control within the Technical Production environment, such includes but not limited to the following:
- Development of the Quality Compliance System within the maintenance production environment.
- Continuous quality control inspections.
- Real time monitoring of maintenance activities (live sampling).
- Quality inspection of maintenance records.
- Sampling processes for compliance and improvement.
- Participate in investigations related to maintenance errors.
- Identification of training needs.
- Provide On-Job-Training (OJT) related to Quality and Maintenance subject matters.
- Record keeping of Quality Compliance / Control indicators including reports to management
• To verify work performed by aircraft mechanics and engineers during maintenance, modification and repair of aircraft, aircraft parts and/or aircraft mechanical systems to ensure adherence to standards and procedures laid down in the OEM airworthiness data and the company MOE including related technical instructions.
• Conduct internal reviews and detailed in-depth inspections to ensure that compliance with procedures, specifically with regards to all Technical Production instructions, procedures and records which includes:
- Documentation related to maintenance;
- Aircraft logbook entries which include release to service, CRMA, extensions, component replacement, scheduled / unscheduled maintenance entries, AD/SB and modification entries;
- Work packs related to scheduled / unscheduled maintenance;
- Critical tasks as referenced in the company procedures;
- MJC’s / MTC’s;
- JIC’s;
- Defect Sheets.
- Aircraft Flight Folio / technical log entries.
tooling, GSE and tools inventory, engineer hand tools daily control, aircraft parts shelf-life expiry control, consumables and flammables control.
• Follow up and gather evidence to assist with close-out of internal and external audit findings related to the main base.
• Follow up on recurring aircraft defects to understand whether recurring defects was effectively closed.
• Follow up on recurring audit findings to understand whether recurring findings were effectively closed.
• Provide assistance with internal or external auditors in compliance reviews and quality inspections / audits at the main base and line stations.
• Prepare management reports regarding Quality compliance and improvement progress.
• Monitor compliance systems to ensure its effectiveness and functionality.
• Report violations of compliance to regulatory standards to management staff as and when necessary.
• Provide guidance and mentor remedial actions for non-compliances as and when needed.
• Carry out Quality sampling inspections when a trend is noticed during continuous monitoring / control inspections, to identify deficiencies related
to specific individuals, stations, procedures or management.
• To recommend changes to procedures, policies, work instructions to enhance continuous improvement in compliance with standards and
regulatory requirements.
• To report Findings as noted during live continuous monitoring and inspections related to maintenance actions / documentation, including the
record keeping thereof within the Quality Control domain of the Company Audit Database. Furthermore to report findings and observations to
involved management to focus on specific areas of concern.
• Findings need be communicated to the specific individuals and supervision staff / manager. Related paperwork received after been rectified,
need be provided to involved personnel for update of records, this includes the CAMO department for electronic record keeping and update of
the Maintenance Planning and Tracking system in use.
INVESTIGATIONS
• Conduct internal investigations of compliance issues and identify deficiencies that require follow-up or further inquiries.
• Conduct Ad-hoc inquiries based on Occurrence or Hazard reports when required by the SMS system.
• Initiate and/or conduct investigations based on Quality Compliance and Assurance indicators or trends.
• Conduct investigations upon request by the Quality Manager and/or Head of the AMO when the need arise from audits, occurrences, incidents or other related events.
• Participate with investigations that are initiated from the SMS committee / system.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Accredited technical aircraft maintenance qualification (Aircraft Maintenance Technician / Trade qualification or AME license).
• A minimum of five years aviation maintenance experience.
• Accredited Internal Quality Management System and Audit qualification.
• Accredited SA CATS & CAR’s course.
• Human Factors in Aviation course.
• Safety Management System (Aviation SMS) course.
• OHS familiarization course – preferred.
• Experience and good knowledge of Quality Control Systems.
