Ludwig lost a wing (folded up apparently) one stormy night on a flight from Bloem to Senekal. On board was his girlfriend, daughter and her black playmate. There was a protracted courtcase with the insurance. His girlfriend's son was a lawyer and they eventually won the case. Ludwig was a member of the Kroonstad Flying Club.

Does anybody know the actual date or perhaps more details of the aircraft? With these I should be able to find it in the database.

If I remember correctly, Mr Bremer arrived over the farm, the workers put out landing lights, he then struck the fence on final approach. But no idea of the date 😕
