During the ICAO audit of CAA it was found that 184 procedures across the country, were not maintained and had to be suspended until they had been revalidated.

Maybe we will all be lucky and have them back up in time for the summer weather season...

Re: Lanseria - FALA - Approaches Suspended
Does anyone know when (if) this approach, and all the other suspended approaches, will be re-certified? In my opinion, ATNS should be sued into the ground for this incompetence.

Re: Lanseria - FALA - Approaches Suspended
The ILS is working fine it's the approach procedure that has been suspended, the revalidated approach chart was presented to the CAA today, so we are hoping that the suspension should be lifted in the next three weeks.

I hear that the CAA has been taking many weeks to approve and then throwing them back for very minor paperwork issues

Hi All,
After Lanseria had the area heights surveyed the ILS was approved. SACAA is busy updating the A.I.P., it should be officially operational next week.
With this survey, the RNAV approach to Runway 07, which would have expired at the end March for the same reason as the other letdown aids, has now also been extended.
Lanseria is also installing an upgraded ILS set-up. It will be CAT II capable, but initially only be used for CAT I ILS approaches.
With that comes a ATIS transmitter which will become operational in the near future. The weather and runway transmissions on this ATIS will be in the latest GRF (Global Reporting Format), which can not be changed. GRF is not yet incorporated in RSA pilot requirements. So air crew will have to familiarise themselves with GRF codes and standards. For instance, runway surface will not be reported as wet or dry, but different coded stages of wetness i.e. wet no surface water: wet with surface water, running water, different depths of water etc. which all will be transmitted with different codes.
With ATC in the Lanseria Tower being short on staff, the person on night duty will be at FDP rest between midnight and 01:00. Please use Lanseria Ops for aircraft movement in that hour period.
