I think the ivory from elephants shot by crazed, gunhappy SADF rank has long been sold, and has funded all sorts of things such as beach houses and shitty little lapas and living room bars. Much of Angola's ivory was used by Savimbi to fund his dirty war. Jan Breytenbach wrote a novel about it called The Plunderers - it was this clash that lead to his fall from grace with the SADF's top brass.
