Are you considering a book, a talk or something as I would love to read/hear some more, even though you kept us updated pretty well. :D
As I was driving home this pm i happened to tune to Classic and hold and below! there was a long interview with Calle. I got home before it ended so sat in the car in the garage still listnening. The interviewer seems to have got a lot of his background from Avcom.

I like your quirk, that you can do Comores and back on one tank :D :D
Savas,

Definitely not a book - neither my "story" (small stories, rather) nor my photography are good enough for that. A travel book either require a really captivating story thread or stunning photography - mine are not at that level. I will try to fill in the gaps from the journey, though, over the next month or two. Jim D has been prodding me about Lord Howe Island, which will be in there somewhere

SA Flyer is turning my blogs into three articles - they do all the hard work and I just review the final product   (I've got too much work on my plate). The first article was in the July issue, I'm reviewing no 2 now, and I guess no 3 will be in the Sep issue.

I'm also giving a talk at the EAA auditorium at Rand airport on Thursday evening, around 7pm or so until 10-11pm.

I have had a few other inquiries too, including one from the University of Pretoria Aeronautical Society and some from the Western Cape area - no dates set yet.

Best regards
Calle

Guy,

Very true - one of the managers at Classic FM is an aviation enthusiast and AVCOMMER. Glad they aired the interview - we recorded it 1.5 weeks ago and they were supposed to tell me when, but probably forgot..

Hey Calla,
When u back in Cape Town, lets go and get a fantastic steak at Nelsons Eye.

Its about time you told your friends what you have been up to, if you say when, I will organise the table.
Send me an email, its still the same.
Look forward as do so many of your friends, to your adventure tales.

Cheers
Tom

Or we can organize a special dinner at my restaurant? 8)
Calle knows that our food is fantastic, plus I can just be in the right mood and put a good amount of special bubbly on the table!
If you still want to go to Nelson I will be forced to follow you...it's a tough decision but I will follow the leader!

Hi,

I'm in Cape Town now, actually - but heading to Windhoek tomorrow morning, back next week, before heading to Juba at the end of the month (work, work...). That steak idea is appealing....

Hi,

It seems the Aeroclub has awarded me the James Gilliland Trophy for "Most meritorious feat over the past year" for my RTW trip - most grateful for that and my apologies for not being around to receive the award (I'm working in South Sudan right now).

The most meritorious holiday of the year - well, that doesn't sound bad at all .....

I was wondering who's won that award before - but on the aeroclub website it's only indicated for a few years and nothing after 2010. Anybody have a list?

Best regards from Juba

I was wondering the same thing myself.
