Would it not be interesting to do a poll in the General section to see how many have actually got an invoice and/or paid but still waiting for the certificate. I think we will find that we not even vaguely a minority.

I have no idea how to do it .........
Best wishes,
Bob

I think we know what the results will show......

I submitted 5 license renewals WITH payment in early Feb at ICASA, in person, not by post. 3 had to become re-registrations as ICASA seem to have lost the paperwork from ages ago. 2 just renewals.

So far I've received invoices for the 2 plain renewals - 10 days ago. No record of payment on the invoices.

Also received one invoice for one of the re-registrations, but for the OLD account which is useless, nothing for the other 2 at all.

Actual licences - squat, nada, zilch.....

So we wait. Patiently. I have proof of payment.

I finally got a reply to a succession of emails (multiple emails to various ICASA addresses) asking for a copy of the form last week. The emails go back to January.

He he, yes attach a read receipt to your e-mail and watch the fun as it goes from person to person like a hot potato. Hilarious. Obviously passing the buck big time. And then of course there are the ones that delete the e-mail UNREAD - holy smoke, what is that??????
Best wishes,
Bob

Hi All,

I need some advice here please. Last year I jumped through all the hoops to renew my radio licences, certified this and that and finally ended up with 3 copies for each aircraft  . I have just received my renewal notice's (invoice's) now my question is "do I need to jump through the same hoops this year or can I just go and pay the invoices at the post office like I used to"?

Cheers, Don.

Who knows what is going on??
I also submitted all the paper-work to re-confirm licenses for five aircraft (and paid the 5 year discount rate) prior to the due date (I think end of March 2013).

For two I received the annual license, expires now 31 March 2014. And have heard nothing since.
For another I received a license that expires 31 March 2014, plus now recently a new one with expiry date 31 March 2015.
For the fourth I have received nothing what-so-ever.
And for the final aircraft, last year I received a license expiring 31 March 2018.

Don,

Go and pay the fees at the PO as normal. Nothing else to do except, when you do pay, just make sure the receipt correctly reflects your licence number/s.

Sig,

Sorry I can't help confirm any payments or other details, having left Eyecassa last year, however, I recommend you contact one of the 4 Regional offices, quote your various licence numbers and request that the status of your accounts be confirmed. Don't even try to contact their HQ in Joburg, even if you do manage to get thru they will probably give you a thousand words as to why they can't help you right now! The respective phone numbers are Cape Town 021-4319800; Durban 031-3349500; Port Elizabeth 041-3941600 and Bloemfontein 051-4115900. The Regional offices do not have generic email addresses but each member of staff has an individual email address so ask for it when you make initial contact and keep it for future reference.

Ciao for now.

Perhaps a bit of help.
ICASA seems to have quite a few very nice and educated people, however there is no leadership or ability to put together systems that work and no results or service focussed supervision, and it is down to individuals to try to get things done.
That said if you can get hold of one individual (which I did by going to the aeronautical section in Jhb) they are very obliging and helpful.

It appears:-
If you just want a 1 year renewal - pay by EFT or PO and e-mail PoP and copy of invoice or existing licence to them. In the fullness of time you should get your licence and in the meanwhile carry the PoP, invoice and old licence in the aircraft.
If you want a 5 year (who doesn't considering the small expense and the future year's hassle you avoid!) then you must fill in a new Form B and mark the 5 year option and e-mail that to them with the PoP of the R500. If you live around Gauteng go and collect the licence!

Compared to the last time I visited there a couple of years ago the attitudes and quality of staff seem far better! Rosy coloured specs? :D

I got my invoice through the mail on 16 Feb and paid by EFT on 17 Feb. I faxed the proof of payment to the number on the invoice.

The licence reached my post box on 20 March. The old one lapses on 31 March.

So the system seems to work if you pay promptly.
The sky is not the limit....

A follow up.
I sent off an email to an ICASA email address which I found in my email from a year back.
Super helpful.
Within 1/2 hour I received an email saying that all the licenses have been updated to 5 years on their system and that they would post the licenses shortly. :D

I need to find out what ICASA's requirements are when buying an LSA aircraft in a private deal. What needs to be renewed ? Is there an ownership transfer that has to take place ? Where can I get the forms ?

This one 'works':

specrev&icasa_org_za (edit: mangled to save them from the spam - but you know what it should look like)

Took 35 days from post to reply, but it did get a reply...
