That's exactly what I was referring to. Trying to save money during an engine overhaul, or doing it the cheapest way possible, WILL come back after a short while and then it will cost you. Or the unfortunate guy who bought the plane after said overhaul. The same happened to me, but I did get 700 hours before things went south. When mine went though, I was left with no other option but a complete overhaul, to the tune of almost R300k.pieter001 wrote:...The engine was last rebuild at FAWB by AEP and all I can think is that everything barely made the grade for the rebuild...
IIRC, my engine was done in the early 2000's by Phoebus Apollo...
However, on a more positive note, I got my Mooney back from MPI yesterday and what a joy it is. I flew it for 3.5 hours dropping the ferry pilot off at Port Alfred and everything is just perfect. There was no metal in the oil filter, I chucked all the old Bendix King radio's and they were replaced with a brand spanking new GTR 225 and GMA 340 - both from Garmin. Man, the difference in audio and transmission is absolutely amazing.
Pieter, byt net vas ou maat en maak jou vliegtuig stukkie vir stukkie reg, soos wat jy hom wil he. Binne 2 of 3 jaar is hy perfek en jy kan vir baie jare vlieg sonder moeilikheid.
