Dangerous Goods - Batteries

Unread post by Roger »

We have been shipping notebooks around for as long as I can recall. Now for the first time our courier company is instructing us to remove the batteries and ship them separately. Has something changed regards the classification of batteries?

Edit:
Picked up this latest change - but from what I can tell - still permissible to send up to 2 batteries per package with the size of notebook battery which is approx 60wH.

Most couriers will still insist on a MSDS (Material Data Safety Sheet) and a current UN 38.3 certifcate before they will ship Li-Ion batteries. They also require a sticker like the one below to be applied to the package.

Comply with the MSDS as Jester recommends & all should be OK. There are some trying to create empires from that which they don't understand. I ship sealed lead acid aircraft batteries around Africa. If it's OK to start the plane why can't it go as freight? Eish, but!! is the standard answer.
