"would you take it or stay where you are?"

Depends where you are !

The Airbus rating is worth a crap load (and SAA don't have training bonds) ! Join SAA get 1000 hrs P2 on the A320 , then decide on Dragonair , Jetstar , Asiana , Tiger etc
Don't be crazy and turn down a job offer with SAA. It will be a once in a life time opportunity.

SAA has never had positive press coverage. Dont base your decision on what the press say.

Btw. The last time a pilot resigned from SAA to go to another flying job was in 2008. That's a good indicator.

Of course. Paying bills is more important than playing politics.
Due to the price increase in ammunition, do not expect a warning shot.

Is there any substance to the rumour that there will shortly be a 'B' salary scale at SAA as part of the turn around strategy?

Even if it is true, it's still a highly attractive job and you'd have to have a pretty serious reason not to go there.

For sure! Nothing would give me greater pride than to fly for my national carrier (one day). Yes, from the outside you hear all the doom and gloom but you don't see a bunch of pilot's, currently working for the airline, complaining. I'll take care of the passengers and the politics can be handled somewhere else.

None of us (and I am one) that complain about SAA have all but high regard for the aircrews, I have lots of friends flying for them. They won't complain as they are very well paid and looked after btw. I won't try to stop anyone who wants to fly for them, at least somebody (that I like) is earning my tax dollars.

Management and Govmunt are the problems and they are attracting our wrath!

I have posed this question to some of my fellow men & women of the sky. Most in the so called correct age group would go, some are not so sure.

A few however are so adamant they would never!!! Sighting that their conscience would not allow them to join an organisation that in their opinion has abused the tax paying citizens of this great country blah blah blah..........

Don't get me wrong - I'm not so high and mighty that I would say no to SAA if I was sitting out on contract etc. Family (ie paying the bills) comes first. So then I'd jump through their little hoops. But I'm in a stable, relatively well paying job that pays the bills and keeps me reasonably happy, with the bonus of not having to feel mildly embarrassed when people ask me who I work for

All assuming that I would have passed the whole selection process of course. I'm not so full of energy that I feel I need to do what one of my colleagues did however - go through the whole SAA selection process, then turn them down when he was accepted, just 'to see if he would have made it!'
