About two weeks ago, I had to take two center pivot motor/gearbox combinations to Cradock and collect a new one there. These are pretty awkward in shape and size and are pretty heavy. So, to protect the carpet in my Mooney's luggage compartment, we put the motors in bags, then in boxes and I lines the luggage compartment with an old towel. However, once we got them inside, through the luggage compartment door, I couldn't turn the boxes in order to fit them next to each other and I didn't want to put one on the rear seat.
My Mooney has a split rear seat back and I always knew about the little levers on the rear armrests, that are used to adjust the position of rear seat backs, but I've never really bothered with them as I never sit there.
On this day, however, I fiddled with them in an attempt to get the seat backs more upright so the boxes could fit. Man, was I pleasantly surprised when I discovered that the rear seat backs in my Mooney can fold forward, right down to an almost completely horizontal position. In this configuration, my Mooney has huge space and you'll be able to load just about anything that will fit through the doors.

Re: Folding rear seats.
Thx for the info Lood. I need to check my M20j to see if I can do that. That would help with a mountain bike-provided I remove the tires.
