SA Express to Maseru
The last few days the flight info on ACSA shows SA Express flights to Maseru from JNB, but NO-OP. On flysax website there is a vacancy advertised for country manager in Lesotho...so presuming this will start soon?
Do recall that SAX actually applied for 3 weekly CPT-Maseru flights late last year.
Guess the Airlink/SAX "war" is now stepping up...after Gaborone was also launched by Airlink, they also applied for flights to Windhoek and Walvis Bay...JNB-BFN have been increased from the initial 2 daily to 4 daily now...SAX also applied for JNB-Bulawayo

Re: SA Express to Maseru
I also saw the vacancy and thought the same. Just like Airlink and Express now both running Cape Town-George. It has lowered the prices quite a bit.
In the battle between aeroplanes and the ground. The ground has yet to lose.
Aviation would be great, if it wouldn't be for passengers.

SAX has operated in Lesotho before, but under the MGC Airlines banner.
SA Express CRJ200BER ZS-NMK at George today for the GRJ-CPT afternoon flight.

Actually, we just provided crew for MGC for a short while. They own the 2 CRJ's in their colours, but those aircraft are currently leased to SAX for our own use.Deanw wrote:SAX has operated in Lesotho before, but under the MGC Airlines banner.

Re: SA Express to Maseru
So what is the plan of this MGC Airline, are they still planning to start service? Would then also probably want to compete on JNB-Maseru, would be tough then against the company they lease their aircraft from...if SAX is to launch the route?
Or will the CRJ200s just keep flying in these colours until they (eventually hopefully?) leave the fleet... just like to CongoExpress colours still.

Re: SA Express to Maseru
These two aircraft actually belong to MGC. They are not using them, so SAX has leased them back (they used to belong to SAX). I assume that they are not being painted because it is not a long term lease.grjplanes wrote:So what is the plan of this MGC Airline, are they still planning to start service? Only SAX knows why they actually sold them in the first place....nugpot wrote:These two aircraft actually belong to MGC. Because the CRJ200 will be out of the SAX fleet in total sooner rather than later.RCM wrote:Only SAX knows why they actually sold them in the first place....

Re: SA Express to Maseru
Somehow I doubt that. With SAA needing money for a new fleet, there is no way SAX will get money, and with US regionals parking upwards of 200 CRJ200's, I suspect we will be flying them for a looooong time.evanb wrote:Because the CRJ200 will be out of the SAX fleet in total sooner rather than later.RCM wrote:Only SAX knows why they actually sold them in the first place....
