Fashkosh fly in

Unread post by ADB »

Anyone know the cut-off time for flying into FASH on Saturday? It doesn't seem to be stated on the Stelfly website.

The NOTAM refers you to AIP supplement 38/14, which provides very lttle useful information. So my question stands.

FASHKosh

The annual FASHKosh will be hosted on the airfield the weekend of the 10th of May. The arrangements are moving along swiftly. Just a few important points for members below:

Tickets

Every person attending the airshow will be required to pay an entrance fee. The fee is R40 per adult and R20 for children. Members that are unable to afford the ticket prices can contact the administration office to make an alternative arrangement.

The clubhouse is reserved for club members. Reserved parking for club members is also provided. Please ensure that you are able to produce your membership card when requested.

To allow unimpeded access for emergency vehicles and personnel, members are requested not to park along the access road.

Aircraft movements

Please note the validation flights for the airshow will take place from Friday (2014/05/09) afternoon 1200B until sunset, delays can be expected when the display box is active. During the airshow no departures or arrivals are allowed. The airfield airspace is Class D from 0800B until 1700B on both Friday and Saturday. See AIP SUP S038/14 Link: http://www.caa.co.za/Index%20of%20AIP%20SUP/S038-14.pdf

Members on the Northern side of the airfield participating in the airshow, or displaying their aircraft in the static display area, or who want to fly on the Saturday are requested to move their aircraft to the apron in front of the clubhouse before 0800B on Saturday morning. The taxiways will be blocked off at the intersection near the McFall hangar.

Here is wishing you a great airshow / fly-in to Stellenbosch this coming weekend. The date clashed with the SAAF Museum's airshow at Zwartkops, but we will have AP's Cape Town correspondent and outstanding female photographer Irene McCullagh present at the Cape Town event. Let’s keep it safe and have a wonderful time in this spectacular part of our beautiful country.

Regards,
Athol Terence.

The show will go on! But maybe bring an umbrella... 8-[

Flying program has been finalised and hopefully the weather will play along. The forecast for Friday is light rain in the morning, clearing from 12h00 when validations will take place. Saturday has some cloud cover, drizzle and low temps, with a northerly wind forecast.

Given the above, planning is as follows:
Saturday kicks off with arrival of visitor aircraft i.e. Motorised Para gliders, Warbirds, classics to L39 jet. The airshow flying program runs from 10h30 to 14h00. Ideally we would like to keep the airspace allocated for show aircraft. Arrivals and departures of non-show aircraft during this slot time can expect delays.

Media briefing is 08h00 in Stellenbosch Club house.

The FASH frequency is 119.3, call “Stellenbosch Tower”.
Below is a copy of the published NOTAM.

Indeed, well done to the Fashkosh organising committee for a fantastic effort, despite the trying weather. =D>
