On the map that I have there is an airfield called Rovanto close by. Is it also on your farm ?

Is that the field next to the R511 ( Brits -Thabazimby rd)?

If so used to be Roland van Tonder's property YEARS ago. ( just for reference) , or is that the Rovanto field??

Beautifull area to be flying over, crocodile river with lots of irrigation " pivot-points" and game farms.

Not sure of that airfield name. Only airfield on property is the one at the co-ords. And yes used to be Roland's strip, is next to the road as in the photie.

If you're keen to fly in this weekend just mail me on explore@global.co.za

Cheers Dave

Thanx Dave.
Know exact location. - The presidential "no-fly" might affect taking off for a number of pilots.

Regards

Jaco

Please note the validity period is Saturday 24 May 2014 from time 09h00 to 18h00 local time. The FALA and FAOR CTRs are excluded from the 25 NM (vertical restriction is from Ground to 7600 AMSL). However, traffic departing from FALA and FAOR intending to route below the JHB TMA, may not route on tracks which will penetrate the 25 NM boundary around the Union Buildings in Pretoria. This will mean that effectively FAWB will be shut down for the day.

yes, good security for airplanes overnight, tokkie has guards at airfield.

Regards the no fly zone, anticipating this I enquired this morning re a permit to fly for 24th, and they (SAAF) told me to fill in two forms they sent me and email them back - very efficiently around a hour after I emailed them my request. Not holding my breath, but its a good start.

Not sure how to post the forms on the web, but just email me on explore@global.co.za if you wanna fly and I'll send it to you.

Cheers D.
