Cubby Project-Rebuild
I have a Taildragger Cubby project for sale. It was in an accident and was repaired and re-built. The build is not complete yet. Aircraft is covered. It has a 2,3 engine and all the instruments as well as a prop. Maybe I will finish it myself. Owner looking for R90k. Great project for someone who wants to start flying or wants to fly cheap.
Reason for crash.
Belt drive snapped on take-off due to an installation problem, so owner did a forced lob. Nose wheel broke (proves my point that they are dangerous things) and AC went over on it's roof.

Re: Cubby Project for sale
Saw Stefan on Saturday and he told me about this project.
That is a great price.
I would grab it in a heartbeat but have a cubby already and a KR2 to finish

Or rather, what would I need ( in terms of investment ) to get her flying?

Re: Cubby Project for sale
No Piant or wiring or upholstery but I guess that you will be hard pressed to spend more than another 20k on this to get it flying. If I complete the project it will be about 60k all inclusive. Labour being the larger part.

Re: Cubby Project for sale
Hi you all. This project(ZU-EUP)is fairly complete with almost no extra spares to buy. Roof panel has been wired with all the looms to wings and instrument panel ect. A 200 radio has been re-located to roof switch-panel for better access. Seat cushions are of green canvass and load bay, inside paneling and front inst. panel of plywood. Proper hydraulic disc brakes. New re-drive and belt. New oil cooler. To finish; paint, cut and fit windows, re-assemble with new approved bolts/hardware, inspections, fight the paper war. I decided to rather sell this project and use the money to upgrade the Cheetah as nobody seems to want that, not even as a give away. If you have KFA finish it for you, it will still be a bargain as this plane cost R230K when new in 2008. Even if you buy the project, just for the parts to build something else, it would still be a bargain.

Re: Cubby Project for sale
I had a look at the plane yesterday. The build quality is good and there is not too much to do on the plane. It looks about 100% complete. Everything was as Shumba descibed. You will probably have to buy a bit of wiring, some fuel lines and paint. If it is not sold in a week I will complete the project myself.

Re: Cubby Project-Rebuild
Thought I would post updates of the rebuild here. The project was more challenging than initially thought. The fabric work looks OK when painted UV but when you start the paint prep you realize all the mistakes builders make. Lots of work.
Don't say anything about my workspace. We are using my old spray booth. Running out of space.
Engine and instrument panel installed today. I am struggling to find a place to install the radio panel. The previous builder was going to install a box in the roof but the plan looks dodgy. Any pics of some cubby interiors?
