Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
Be careful of Aluminium there - very prone to cracking without some form of strain relief. Bundy is a lot better - but many people would recommend adding some loops.checkride wrote:heisan wrote:Is that Aluminium, or bundy tubing?
Its bundy tubing, used Aluminium for cylinder4 to 6 bends were not good for the bundy. Going to sleeve the rest of the lines with Fire Sleeve, help keep the heat of the lines.

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
Yea thats what I heard as well but as you can see from the pictures theres not much room so the Z bend will have to do. Think its a lot better than a straight line specially with MOGAS. I had a look at the pipe work on our Decathlon and on a Cessna , no straight lines either looped or bends. I believe it helps with fuel percolation or something in that line.

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
We had the inspection done for the new ATF yesterday. Picked up an issue with the oil lines. Lines look like they have collapsed slightly just at the fittings, will post some pics today. Going to remove them and have two new lines made up, might just install my TOCA as well seeing that its off. Strange these are Braided lines surprised that i didn't pick this up. Other than that all the work performed on CYR is good to go .

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
Hi Checkride,
That's interesting, I found the exact same thing on the one oil line when I removed them to install the TOCA. It looked like it had twisted just under the connection to the oil cooler block. I surmised that the pipe had twisted during tightening some time earlier, the "kink" in the one line is now permanently set in the braided hose. As I was changing the lines to the bigger AN-8 size I just junked the old lines and made quite sure I never twisted the new lines whilst tightening the new fittings.
Cheers, Don.

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
Ok lessons well learnt guys, had the new lines made today and ask the dude to remove the fitting and pull back the braided section to see if the internal teflon hose was kinked guess what it was on the one side only. Decided not to install the TOCA want to use it on the other motor instead.

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
Have not been able to fly the jab, waiting for new ATF to arrive. Had to re-apply due to the forced landing and engine re-build.

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
That is strange! There was no "accident" damage and a simple Certificate Related to Maintenance (CRM) would have sorted out the engine rebuild in the logbook?
Stuff that you replaced on the airframe was maintenance items with no "repairs" done to the airframe!
Unless it was due anyway?

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
As it turned out ATF arrived today. Decided to fit the cowl, much to my disgust and utter amazement the damn cowl didnt fit properly. new fuel lines in front where touching both sides with no other way to route the lines . To say the least i was P!@#$%d off. Anyway had to put everything back to how it was originally, made up new fuel lines tested to full power. Different...with the prop at full course on the ground 28" MAP 2750 RPM.....mmm think she is going to boogie....might need a bit more pitch when she unloads. Flight test tomorrow.

Re: Electronic Fuel Injection
So test flight done today went well a few issues to address.
1. Oil temp on the climb up to 120 not happy about that. Noticed when they landed that the ducts on the side of the oil cooler had broken off so air passing past the cooler will repair that in the morning.
2. Engine might be running a bit rich sop need to check the mapping.
3. Engine nearly quit when PTT was depressed, interference with the EFI. Noticed the comm radio was not puished all the way into the stack, second the shielding on the back of the antennae plug was off, so have made those repairs will check if ok in the morning
4. A question for the boffins, check the oil pressure, this is a nearly build motor from the factory, is 1.8-2.2 bar correct seems a bit low
5. need to check the ducting for cylinder 4 seems a bit hotter that the rest. Might be that everything is still very stiff. 1.2 hrs done today in the circuit
